Getting started
What is Rebound? Hosted email for reboundrelay.com: you claim addresses, read and send mail in the web app, connect your other email accounts, and developers can use the API to send mail and run messaging inside their own apps.
How do I sign in? With the email you signed up with, with any Rebound address you own, or with a mailbox you connected, plus your password. If Google or Microsoft sign-in is shown on the sign-in page you can also use that. Microsoft sign-in is for personal Outlook, Hotmail and Live accounts.
Can I sign up without an outside email? Yes. Choose "No email, pick a Rebound address" when signing up. You get a one-time recovery key. It is the only way to reset your password, so save it. You can also turn on two-factor authentication.
Email connections
How do I connect Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, Outlook or another account? Open Email connections (the icon beside Rebound at the top left) and pick your provider. Most providers need an app password (a separate password for apps) which you create in your provider's security settings. Follow the steps shown for your provider. Where it is offered, "Sign in with" lets you skip the app password.
Does Rebound store my other mail? No. Mail from connected accounts is fetched live when you open it and is not stored. Only an encrypted sign-in credential is kept, and you can disconnect at any time.
My account will not connect. Check that you used an app password, not your normal password, that two-step verification is on for the account if your provider requires it, and that the address is typed correctly. The error message names the provider's reason.
Your account
I forgot my password. Use "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page. If you signed up with a Rebound address and no email, use your recovery key instead.
What is the difference between deactivating and deleting? Deactivating pauses your account and removes nothing. Signing in again brings it back. Deleting releases your addresses immediately; you can restore the account yourself for 90 days, and the data is kept up to 180 days before it is permanently removed.
Can I download my data? Yes, from Settings, once an hour.
For developers
Where is the API? At https://mail.reboundrelay.com. Always use that host: requests to reboundrelay.com are redirected and many tools drop the authorization header when they follow a redirect.
How do I get an API key? Create one in the app under API keys. A key is shown once when it is created. Keep it secret and give it only the permissions it needs.
What do webhooks send? Delivery events (sent, delivered, deferred, bounced, complained, failed) and message.received for incoming mail. Each request is signed; verify the signature with the secret shown once when you create the webhook.
